Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station Overview
Jumeirah Golf Estates is the R73 station on the Dubai Metro Red Line, in Zone 2 on the Route 2020 branch. It sits between Al Furjan (R72) and Dubai Investment Park (R74), serving the villa and golf community of the same name.
The station opened later than the first wave of Route 2020 stops: it entered service around the Expo site's opening, with full access the following day. The nearby golf community is best known for the Earth course, which has hosted the DP World Tour Championship season finale annually since 2009.

Jumeirah Golf Estates Station opening hours and facilities
Jumeirah Golf Estates station keeps the standard RTA opening hours, the same right across the network:
- Monday to Thursday: 5:00 AM to 12:00 AM
- Friday: 5:00 AM to 1:00 AM
- Saturday: 5:00 AM to 12:00 AM
- Sunday: 8:00 AM to 12:00 AM
Jumeirah Golf Estates has the standard Dubai Metro facilities, confirmed in the official RTA passenger guide. The station is step-free, with lifts to all levels, tactile guidance paths, and dedicated wheelchair spaces on every train. Nol card machines and a ticket counter sit inside the concourse, alongside bilingual signage and information screens. Du Wi-Fi covers the network.
Every regular train carries three cabin types: Gold Class at one end, a Women and Children cabin with pink signage, and Standard cabins. Door pictograms on the platform show where each cabin stops. The station has at least one bus connection, dedicated Metro Police, CCTV throughout, and emergency call points on every platform and train.
Jumeirah Golf Estates has one of the better park-and-ride setups on the Metro: roughly 400 free parking spaces at the station make it practical for drivers coming in on Sheikh Zayed Road or Al Maktoum Airport Road. The lot fills up during DP World Tour Championship week each November, so arrive earlier than usual if you are heading in for the golf.
The Earth course and the DP World Tour Championship
Jumeirah Golf Estates is best known as the venue for the European Tour’s season-ending event. The Earth course has hosted the DP World Tour Championship every year since 2009, making it one of the longest-running tournament venues in the region. Both the Earth and Fire courses were designed by Greg Norman, with Earth measuring 7,706 yards and Fire 7,480 yards from the championship tees, both played at par 72.
The Earth course’s recent presentations have included replacement of the sand in all 100 bunkers and signature red woodchips around tees, according to GolfMagic, part of regular tournament-week preparation. For visitors timing a Metro trip, tournament week falls in mid-November each year, with the station seeing noticeably heavier evening footfall across that stretch than at any other time.
A late Route 2020 opening, now a workable park and ride
Jumeirah Golf Estates was one of the later Route 2020 stations to enter service. Unlike The Gardens, Discovery Gardens and Al Furjan, which opened on 1 January 2021, this station came online tied to the opening of the Expo 2020 site itself. For routine daily use, the station handles a modest residential catchment of villas around the two courses, with the surrounding roads better suited to driving in than walking to the station.
That is why the 400-space free car park matters here more than at most Metro stops: it changes the station from a residents-only facility into a practical park-and-ride for everyone else. A northbound Expo 2020 service through this stop reaches Mall of the Emirates in about 20 minutes and Burj Khalifa / Dubai Mall in about 30, which usually beats driving the same corridor at any time other than deep off-peak.
For the Earth and Fire courses themselves, the station exit is on the opposite side of the course perimeter. Allow around 10 to 15 minutes to walk around to the clubhouse, or arrange a cart pickup if you have booked a tee time. The main road alignment makes a direct cut through the course impossible.
Fares from Jumeirah Golf Estates Station
Fares depend on how many zones your trip crosses, not how many stations you pass. A Silver Nol card costs AED 3 within one zone, AED 5 across two zones, and AED 7.50 for three or more zones, per the RTA Nol fares page. A personal Blue Nol card pays the same as Silver. Gold Class costs double: AED 6, 10 or 15 across the same bands.
Without a Nol card, the Red ticket is a separate, higher tariff of AED 4, 6 or 8.50 by zone band, and the blank ticket costs AED 2 to buy. Children aged five and under travel free, and travel is free for People of Determination.
