Abu Hail Metro Station Overview
Abu Hail is the G17 station on the Dubai Metro Green Line, in Zone 5. It sits between Al Qiyadah (G16) and Abu Baker Al Siddique (G18), in a long-established residential corner of Deira close to Abu Hail Centre and Al Hamriya Park.
The station is best known to travellers as the nearest Metro stop to Dubai International Airport's Terminal 2, which has no station of its own. A short bus or taxi closes the gap to the terminal, which is why the station runs a steady flow of travellers with bags on top of its residential and local-shopping traffic.

Abu Hail Station opening hours and facilities
Abu Hail station keeps the standard RTA opening hours, the same right across the network:
- Monday to Thursday: 5:00 AM to 12:00 AM
- Friday: 5:00 AM to 1:00 AM
- Saturday: 5:00 AM to 12:00 AM
- Sunday: 8:00 AM to 12:00 AM
Abu Hail has the standard Dubai Metro facilities, confirmed in the official RTA passenger guide. The station is step-free, with lifts to all levels, tactile guidance paths, and dedicated wheelchair spaces on every train. Nol card machines and a ticket counter sit inside the concourse, alongside bilingual signage and information screens. Du Wi-Fi covers the network.
Every regular train carries three cabin types: Gold Class at one end, a Women and Children cabin with pink signage, and Standard cabins. Door pictograms on the platform show where each cabin stops. The station has at least one bus connection, dedicated Metro Police, CCTV throughout, and emergency call points on every platform and train.
For a Terminal 2 flight on Flydubai, Air Arabia or Wizz Air, treat Abu Hail as your Metro destination, not Airport Terminal 3. The quickest option from the station is a taxi for around 5 to 10 minutes; the slower, cheaper option is Bus 43 or Bus 31 from the station stand, which costs AED 3 on the same Nol card you tapped in with.
The practical Metro link to Terminal 2
Abu Hail is best known as the fallback Metro approach for Dubai International Airport Terminal 2, which has no station on either line. Gulf News confirms that the nearest Metro station to Terminal 2 is Abu Hail on the Green Line, with a taxi handling the final 2 km on to the terminal. Carriers using Terminal 2 include Flydubai, Air Arabia and Wizz Air, which collectively account for a significant share of the airport’s regional traffic.
For the cheaper option, Khaleej Times notes that Bus 43 and Bus 31 run from the Abu Hail station stand to the terminal in around 10 to 15 minutes for AED 3 on the same Nol card tapped at the Metro gate. Buses do not allow bulky luggage, so the taxi remains the better choice with suitcases. The direct airport-side Terminal 3 and Terminal 1 stations do not help here; Terminal 2 sits on the opposite side of the airport perimeter, closer to Deira than to Sheikh Zayed Road.
A Deira residential catchment with Al Hamriya Park
Beyond the airport story, Abu Hail is a long-established residential catchment. The surrounding streets host apartment towers and villas across the Al Waheda, Hor Al Anz and Al Baraha boundary, with the Green Line linking them to central Deira in a handful of stops. Abu Hail Centre serves the station’s immediate retail needs; Hamriya Shopping Centre handles the slightly wider household demand.
The station’s main local walk is to Al Hamriya Park on 21B Street, a Dubai Municipality public park within a short distance of Exit 1. The park has sports courts, grassy picnic areas and shaded walkways, and typically opens from early morning until late evening with free entry. The adjacent Hamriya Ladies Park is a short walk away on Street 18 for women and children. For visitors, the pair are an easy pre-flight stop if a Terminal 2 departure is a few hours away.
Al Hamriya Park on 21B Street is a short walk from Exit 1 and is one of the more popular evening parks in Deira with families from the surrounding apartment towers. Opening hours typically run from early morning until late evening, with the park gates busiest shortly after sunset. Entry is free and the park is managed by Dubai Municipality.
Fares from Abu Hail Station
Fares depend on how many zones your trip crosses, not how many stations you pass. A Silver Nol card costs AED 3 within one zone, AED 5 across two zones, and AED 7.50 for three or more zones, per the RTA Nol fares page. A personal Blue Nol card pays the same as Silver. Gold Class costs double: AED 6, 10 or 15 across the same bands.
Without a Nol card, the Red ticket is a separate, higher tariff of AED 4, 6 or 8.50 by zone band, and the blank ticket costs AED 2 to buy. Children aged five and under travel free, and travel is free for People of Determination.
