Al Nahda Metro Station Overview

Al Nahda is the G14 station on the Dubai Metro Green Line, in Zone 5. It sits between Dubai Airport Free Zone (G13) and Stadium (G15), in the dense residential-commercial Al Nahda district close to the Dubai-Sharjah border.

Al Nahda is split by jurisdiction into Al Nahda 1 on the Dubai side and Al Nahda 2 on the Sharjah side. The Metro station serves the Dubai side, with Al Bustan Centre and a mix of apartment towers within walking distance. Cross-emirate travellers often use this station as a Dubai Metro entry point for trips that end in Sharjah by taxi.

Al Nahda Station opening hours and facilities

Al Nahda station keeps the standard RTA opening hours, the same right across the network:

  • Monday to Thursday: 5:00 AM to 12:00 AM
  • Friday: 5:00 AM to 1:00 AM
  • Saturday: 5:00 AM to 12:00 AM
  • Sunday: 8:00 AM to 12:00 AM

Al Nahda has the standard Dubai Metro facilities, confirmed in the official RTA passenger guide. The station is step-free, with lifts to all levels, tactile guidance paths, and dedicated wheelchair spaces on every train. Nol card machines and a ticket counter sit inside the concourse, alongside bilingual signage and information screens. Du Wi-Fi covers the network.

Every regular train carries three cabin types: Gold Class at one end, a Women and Children cabin with pink signage, and Standard cabins. Door pictograms on the platform show where each cabin stops. The station has at least one bus connection, dedicated Metro Police, CCTV throughout, and emergency call points on every platform and train.

From a Dubai resident

Al Bustan Centre is a 10-minute walk from this station, with its food court and value-oriented shops. For a lower-fare run to Union, this station and the three to its north all sit inside Zone 5, so trips stay at AED 3 on a Silver Nol card. That makes it a useful starting point for shorter errands that avoid the taxi surge pricing.

A district split by the Dubai-Sharjah border

Al Nahda is one of the clearer examples of a Dubai-Sharjah cross-border community in daily life. The district has two subcommunities on the Dubai side (Al Nahda 1 and Al Nahda 2 under Dubai’s jurisdiction) and continues into Sharjah on the other side of the border, where Al Nahda is best known for the Sahara Centre mall. Gulf News reported that Sahara Centre, on the Sharjah side of Al Nahda Street, opened in February 2002 and has since announced a sizeable expansion as the area has densified.

On the Dubai side, the district is served by two Metro stations: Al Nahda (G14) and Stadium (G15), with the station names reflecting the small built-up area each covers. The pattern draws residents from across the Al Qusais industrial fringe and the apartment towers along Al Nahda Road, as well as commuters crossing the border for work in either direction.

Al Bustan Centre and the Al Nahda retail cluster

Al Bustan Centre, around 10 minutes on foot from this station along Al Nahda Road, is one of the older malls serving the area. The complex has operated as a mixed-use site since 1997, with a four-storey arcade of more than 80 shops paired with a hotel-residence block and a food court above a central atrium. Trade Arabia reported in 2009 that the centre added eight new stores covering womenswear, accessories, home decor, linen and perfumes, consistent with its pivot to everyday retail for the surrounding apartment blocks.

The practical appeal of this cluster is pricing. Al Nahda residents tend to shop locally rather than making the Metro trip into Union or BurJuman for the larger city-centre malls, which is why the station’s foot traffic peaks around weekday evenings rather than weekends. For visitors passing through, the station is also a convenient staging stop for a budget-oriented afternoon of shopping before continuing a Green Line trip.

From a Dubai resident

The platforms are busiest in the morning rush and late evening with workers heading between Al Nahda and the Deira stops. If you have the time, waiting one off-peak train usually gets you a seat. Thursday evening is the loudest night of the week here as weekend trips to Sharjah pick up.

Fares from Al Nahda Station

Fares depend on how many zones your trip crosses, not how many stations you pass. A Silver Nol card costs AED 3 within one zone, AED 5 across two zones, and AED 7.50 for three or more zones, per the RTA Nol fares page. A personal Blue Nol card pays the same as Silver. Gold Class costs double: AED 6, 10 or 15 across the same bands.

Without a Nol card, the Red ticket is a separate, higher tariff of AED 4, 6 or 8.50 by zone band, and the blank ticket costs AED 2 to buy. Children aged five and under travel free, and travel is free for People of Determination.
